Trevor Mendham's Writing
I've been writing ever since I was a kid. My first novel was finished
when I was about twelve and actually sent off to a publisher. With
hindsight I was probably lucky they didn't reply.
Like all writers I'm also a voracious reader and run my own small
book review site.
I started writing seriously around the mid 1990s when I joined
the T Party Writers'
Group. I am also a member of the Storyville online writing community.
Both are very supportive groups of people to whom I owe a lot.
I've had stories published in various print magazines and online
anthologies and have also had material used on BBC Radio 2's News Huddlines
(now sadly defunct).
My writing veers between the funny and the downright nasty. It's a fine
line between the two, sometimes I'm not sure myself where a particular story fits.
The best comedy is black.
I've recently been trying to break into TV script writing, especially
sitcoms. Unfortunately this is a very difficult market to
get into especially if you don't have the contacts. Add to which prodcos today
only seem interested in "celebrity" led projects or "reality" TV
shows where they don't have to pay writers.
So it's back to the comedy
SF novel.
